I check OpenSecrets.org about once a quarter. For those that don't know about OpenSecrets, it a website that publishs all the campaign contributions, debts, Super PAC activity, etc for each canidate. It's run by The Center for Responsive Politics and their mission is to promote a more transparent campaign financing system. The website does not accept "contributions" (or bribes as the lay-people call them) from any outside parties, so their findings are generally unbias.
Canidates are required to file financial statements with the FEC, showing their current campaign financial position, as well as report data about their donors. Then OpenSecrets publishes that data on their website. It's pretty interesting stuff. They follow local, state and national political contests, as well as data about lobbyists and super PACs.
Anyways, to the point, I did a head to head match of Obama v. Rmoney, to compare their financial standings and I posted the most interesting parts of the results below the squiggle.
This is an overview of their current financial standings.
Here is a break down of where their funds came from.
And, last, but not least, a list of their respective top 5 contributors. Not surprising to see that Rmoney's reads like a who's-who of Wall Street. Hmmm, I wonder why Wall Street bankers are pushing so hard for him to get elected...I wonder if it has anything to do with Rmoney stating he'll slash their tax rate or repeal banking regulations...nah, that's probably just a coincedence.
